Having lived in Miami, Chicago, and now NYC since I finished school, I can say from experience there are significant differences in dating scenes/dating cultures between different major cities. Also, like anything else, New York is absolutely incomparable to anywhere on earth. It's the center of the freaking universe bro. 2) Dating in NYC (and everywhere) requires a string of failures before any sort of success. You have to learn to state your values clearly, i.e. “I’m looking to find someone I can have a serious relationship with”, and be OK with rejecting someone or being rejected based on a mismatch in values.

So, I currently live in Denver. I am a 24 year old female who is going to be graduating from my undergrad program next spring.

Before the whole covid meltdown, NYC was on my list to move because hello a city that never sleeps and so many faces who doesn’t love that.

I’ve always wondered how overwhelming is it to be in the dating scene somewhere like NYC. I bet the possibilities are endless and that’s what I’m so in love with. I’m curious how would y’all go about it? Did you feel like online dating is kinda pointless considering you were bound to meet a-person on your day/night adventures? Or did you feel like by being on an online website it helped the overwhelming options in people.

I'm a guy in new york and there is an astounding amount of douche women. We're talking flakey, weird, scetchy, pretentious, and just stuck up women. They're not all bad, but NYC seems to have a ton of them. Just like real life, there are douchebags from both genders.

I'm trying not to give up hope about dating in NYC but it's hard. What are your tips? I'm doing the whole bumble/hinge thing and open to guys I meet IRL but it's just wearing me down to the point where I'm almost giving up. I dont have a typical work environment to meet guys (I'm 28F) so its pretty much about meeting a guy outside of work. I got out of a long relationship early last year and I took time off to have fun in NYC but now I'm starting to regret that. I should have been looking earlier LOL.
