We used to get decent summer breaks in dental school. Between first & second year - 7 weeks, did research at school. Between second & third year - almost 10 weeks, studied for boards for 5, did research at school for the other 5. I don't think she regretted jumping to dental school early. She jokingly will say she was a 'college dropout'. My other friend did the same thing but looking back, he regrets that he wasn't there to enjoy his senior year in college as much. (I.e football, senior parties, fraternity events, dating, etc.). Nov 30, 2004 I'm 1st year in dental school and dating a 4th yaer. IT works out ok. Do'nt date somebody in the same class, it might end up like hell. The bottom line is that dating is fine, unless you two understand each other's priority. If you're still in school, I would keep my head in the books. Relationships during dental school can distract you. That can all wait when you finish dental school. There are plenty of fish in the sea girl! Go fishing when you graduate!

Does anyone have experience in owning a practice with their husband/wife/S.O.?
What are the potential advantages to this? Potential disadvantages? Potential combination of specializations, etc? Please let me know your thoughts..
Some background on me: The reason why I ask this, my girlfriend and I both want to be dentists and have both taken our DAT together. We plan to go to dental school together, and so if things work out over the next couple of years, we will be in a Class of 2022, at some dental school. Just curious as I have never seen or even met a 'dental couple' that worked a practice together. She is very adamant about going into pedo, I am not so sure about specializing. Haven't seen enough GP work to say if I would be inclined to go that route, haven't even done a filling, so I know to not really think about it all too much.
